好久以前(1994)的一篇翻譯文了 :p，現在應該不適用了吧。

如果你是網路上的新手,希望這份手冊會對你有用,而
如果你是老手,你可以選擇你要的部份看,並希望你能多提
供更多的訊息。

你可以任意拷貝,修改後使用,但不論是那種方式的取
得都不可有商業交易的用途,即使是修改後的也不可販賣
而是必需無條件的免費提供給網路使用者。

雖然筆者已向原文作者(Una Smith)告知過了,而只有
回一封問我的編寫方式後,就沒回了!但他是興趣要有一份
中文版的,而希望有好品質。我想我是免費提供而非商業
販賣,所以作者會很樂意的,但下一版希望能取得 Una Smith
先生的同意聲明。

以下是全文的目錄,而第六章在本版並未編寫,希望各
位能幫忙作者一起收集完成它。有意見寄到

【第一章 簡介】

《第一節 起源與目的》
本文章主要參考 A Biologist’s Guide to Internet Resources v1.7
(1993) 一文，原文作者為 Una R.Smith。筆者則就這篇資料作些翻譯，再加一
些有關台灣網路的資料，目的在於提供生物學相關研究者一個使用網路資源的
手冊；當然，就第一版而言，只能提供原文章所提供的資源做一個整理，並指
導使用者如何就台灣網路資源中找出最近的所在地，避免使用者對外國網路做
太多連線，而減少網路的壅塞；而筆者的最終目的是除了就原文所提供的資源
做個整理，希望網路上的同好們能提供台灣相關的資料，以便筆者做整理，而
讓這類的資料能夠『本土化』。

《第二節 此版的編寫原則與注意事項》
若台灣網路上已有的資料，則不再列出原文所列的外國資料庫，藉以減少
對外國網路的連線。另外筆者以本身編寫的習慣來編寫，所以本文的編寫型式
以及順序和原文的文章不盡相同。

一些所列的軟體，一定是屬非商業性軟體，但並不表示筆者所列軟體是唯
一的，而是就筆者使用過的來介紹，不一定是最好用的。若讀者有更新或更好
的使用方式，歡迎讀者向筆者介紹。

網路的歷史之類的描述，筆者就加以省略，若讀者對網路的歷史有興趣，
市面上有關 Internet 的書籍以及附錄的『原文的參考文獻』中可以找到有關
網路歷史的電子書。

筆者是第一次編寫，所以本版有任何錯誤的地方，敬請原諒，並告知筆
者，讓下一版有更好的編寫。

希望初次使用網路的讀者，請先看完每個相關的章節，再試本文所列的範
例，特別注意『網路禮節』一章。

筆者習慣的作業系統是:
–Cwindows 3.1
–Macintosh System 7.0 + Chinese Talk 以及 System 7.1
+ WorldScript (沒試過 PowerMac)
–Unix (一些)
作者就這些系統編寫，若是 VMS/VAX 等， 原諒作者不熟甚至不會 :)。

第三節 版權聲明
–原則上本中文版的著作權屬於筆者,而由於主要參考原文,所以有些
權利屬 Una Smith 先生的。

–本文件可任意散布於網路資源中，可以拷貝、修改、引用等皆為免費
，但拷貝後、修改後等皆不可做為商業用途。即使是修改後的也不可

【第二章 網路禮節】

在網路上一些專業性的討論群 (包括新聞討論群 (Newsgroups) 以及郵遞
討論群 (mailing-list))，你必需了解一些特定的網路禮節，因為在這些討論
群被許多國際人士所利用，特別是一些專業研究者。事實上，這些討論群就像
是一個小型的會議，特別是一個永不停止的會議，參與者可以依興致來參加或
不參加，而一個好的討論群，它的意見以及資訊一直在交流變更著。

《第一節 討論群的型式以及被接受的文章》
討論一般性有趣的問題，依特定的討論群而討論著特定的主題、技術等。

宣告一些相關專業會議的事項，比如尋求文獻、論文以及各種國際性或地
域性的討論會議，甚至在特定學術界重要學者過逝的消息，以及紛紛表示個人
的遺憾等。

在新聞討論群 (Usenet or Newsgroups) 中會有限制張貼的期限，即管理
此群討論群的人會定期或不定期的整理『布告』，或者可能會限制特定的文章
在於特定機構或特定區域的讀者才能看見。

有時會有一些新的出版物、論文、技術或相關應用軟體的介紹，如果有配
合文獻引用來源的提供是最適當的，但不包括商業性的廣告。尋找特定的文獻
或尋求別人的意見，網路的研究者都很樂意提供，特別是很受歡迎的主題，常
常充滿討論的氣息。

《第二節 較不被接受的文章包括》
商業廣告、政治文宣以及不相關特定主題的文章(即離題的文章)。但若是
對一些商業商品的討論，特別是特定的書籍或軟體，只要不構成打廣告成分則
是被准許的。

一些尋找有關家庭作業、考試或論文的答案，則比較不受歡迎。原則上可
以提出一些生物相關問題，也被樂意回答，但前題是提出者對於提出的問題要
有基本性的認知，即不要問一些太過基本或一般基本教科書即有答案的問題。

《第三節 一些有幫助的建議》
一、在你張貼前(即將文章放到網路上)，先了解一下:
在你第一次張貼前，先了解你要參與的討論群的基本運作型式，最好先看
人家以前貼的各個文章，可能在你貼之前就已經討論過相同的議題，通常看完
別人討論的各個文章之後，你已經得到許多你想要的資料，最好花個一個星期
去了解了解一下。更好的是你能看過每個討論群所提供的 FAQ (Frequently
asked questions)，因為它包坐F從以前被問的相關問題做一個整理，而有這
份資料，你可以省去尋找資料來源的時間，就像本文就是一種 FAQ 的型式。

如果這兩點你都作到，而沒有你要的資料，才張貼問題以尋求它人幫助，
會減少同樣問題的一再提起。

二、文章註明你的全名以及電子郵件位址 (e-mail address)
因為在網路上長途的傳送之後，而在電子郵件的開頭說明以及討論群文章
會有很奇怪的訊息(因為它將每個轉送點的位址都附加在後面)，所以，在每個
文章之加上你的『標籤』(Signature)，是網路上的習慣，甚至可做些漂亮的圖
案以及附加你的住址，或加上你喜歡的詩，但最好不要太長以避免浪網路資
源。
如: (但注意中文只有對有支援中文的機器才有用，寄到國外會變成亂碼!)

三、適當選擇私人回信或公開張貼.
在討論群中，有的時候私下回信會較適當些，比如，你謝謝特定某個人，
而你公開張貼出來，那就比較奇怪些；而你回答討論群上的問題，公開張貼出
來，可以讓有同樣疑問的讀者一起分享你知道的資訊。

四、原則上，提出原始問題的人做個總結…
最好在許多回覆的文章中能做個總結，最好的方式:
–最好的答案放在最前頭.
–將全部答案分隔清楚一點，而以最適當的格式列出.
–多餘或離題的意見以及不符事實的資料等都應去除.
–每個答案的提出者，必需加以註明，除他們沒有提供他們的名字.
–謹慎地確定何種答案是正確，做好一個好的綜合文件.
如果能做好總結，對以後相同問題的讀者有個很好的參考。

五、避免不必要的『戰端』
–對於不同的聲音，請具有包容的雅量.
–避免個人的人身攻擊.
如果你看見令你十分不快的文章，先把情緒緩一緩，先做其他可以先做的
事，當你冷靜下來後，想想你要說的論點並好好的整理，而盡量避免直接張貼
到公開的討論群，籍由私下的電子郵件好好的溝通。

六、在引用他人的文章之前，請注重智慧財產權..
在引用任何電子文件之前，請先參考每個文件所附的版權聲明，並且尊從
其版權聲明，即使沒有註明，每個文件的智慧財產權皆屬於原始創作者(不論你
有沒有做任何的修改)。現在大部份的電子書許多都歡迎免費的使用以及散佈，
但是通常這些免費的文件是不准許作商業用途的，除非原作者同意出售。

所以，在任何文件或原始軟體的使用之前，特別是文章的引用，請利用文
件中所附的地址或電子郵件地址，禮貌性地告知作者一聲。若是私下的通訊的
引用，也要特別的註明。

【第三章 網路工具】
也許你是個新手，所以本章就網路上目前的一些工具做個簡單介紹，若你
是個老手，那你可跳過本章不看，但希望你能提供筆者有關本章的一些意見。

本章只是簡單介紹基本操作 (並沒有將所有的指令列出，而只列出筆者覺
得常用的) 並且筆者用口語化的說明，並非用專有名詞，所以可能解釋不當；
如果你想了解更多或者你看完本章之後不是很了解，那筆者建議你到市面上?本有關 Internet 的書籍，以得到更進一步的了解；

《第一節 什麼是 Telnet》
簡單說就是電腦之間連線的通訊軟體，比如說你在學校中某台工作站(終端
機)申請一個使用帳號，而你使用工作站所提供的軟體之前，你則必需利用
Telnet 軟體先將你的電腦連到工作站，而這個軟體就是 Telnet。
telnet xxxx.xxxx.xxxx.xxxx
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ 工作站的位址，訊問申請處 (各校電算中心)
login: ????? 申請的代碼
password: 申請的密碼，打的時候看不見……

又比如你知道各大學有 Internet BBS 可以玩，那你可以執行

bbs.nsysu.edu.tw 則表示中山大學 BBS 站主機的一個『位址』，用英文字母
代表，而同一台機器有另一數字代的位址
如: telnet 140.117.11.2 = telnet bbs.nsysu.edu.tw

台灣 BBS 主要提供多人對話 (Talk)、公布欄 (Board)、BBS 之內的通信
(Mail) 以及網路資料的提供，在公布欄中，有關各方面的討論蠻多，特別是一
些網路以及電腦的討論，另外一般日常生活以及小說故事的討論蠻精彩，但是
較缺乏生物相關的討論(其他學科我不清楚，可能討論蠻熱烈)。

附錄 A 為台灣 BBS 的列表，注意其隨時間而有所改變!而且許多 BBS 的
帳號已滿。

《第二節 什麼是 E-mail》
在一些工作站以及 BBS 站會提供所謂電子郵件的傳送，可以讓你藉由網路
很快的和國外以及其他地方的朋友們或一些學者作聯絡，其傳送的速度相當快
速，像寄到國外約十來分鐘的可到達。

先決條件是你必需要在所在的工作站申請一個帳號 (不然，當你關機的時
候，如何收信?)， 因為工作站是一直在運作，所以，機器的郵件程式可以一直
處理一直來到的信件，再放在所在帳號的空間，等你再度連線之後就可以讀了!

而別人如何在網路上指定出你的信箱呢?在你申請帳號時，注意一下你的代
號 (login: 後輸入的代號，即 login_name 或 user_name) 以及工作站的位
址，那你的『電子郵件位址』(e-mail address) 就是 (login_name@serve
address)，如原文作者的電子郵件位址就是 smith-una@yale.edu 在 yale.edu
主機上的 smith-una 帳號。

不同工作站的電子郵件系統不盡相同 (甚至差異蠻大)，筆者在此介紹一般
Unix 的電子郵件系統指令:
連線之後，執行 mail 即進入 mail 程式
mail>
? 列出所有指令
h 列出所有來信的開頭 (Subject)
打入數字 表示看第某封信
d (第 n 封信) 刪除第封信，比如刪除第一封則 d 1
q 離開程式但改變信箱的信，將一些信移至 mailbox 檔中
x 離開程式但不改變信箱的信

另外，要寄信則在 Unix 下 mail (e-mail address) 指令即可，如果你是
初學者，請先寄給自己試試是否成功，然後會出現
Subject: 打入你這封信的開頭 [Return]
然後，打入信的內容，通常用 vi 文書編輯 (在 Unix 下 man vi 即列出有關
vi 的說明書)，打完之後，按 Ctrl-D 即可，若不想寄了按 Ctrl-離開不
寄了!
Ctrl-D 之後然後會出現
CC: 此行表示除了原郵件位址之外，你可多打一些其他位址，
使同樣信可以送到多人的手中。

寄中文信:
(筆者說明:先在 PC 下執行中文系統，再連線)
必需在 UNIX 下執行 stty pass8 才能在連線之後，看見郵件系統的中文
信， 也才能在文書處理器下打中文，但上述的 pine (elm 筆者不知) 不可送
中文信 (除非對方也是用 pine)

筆者建議:
先用文書處理程式打好你的信，存成一個檔，再用下列指令送出:
mail -s “your subject” (e-mail_address) < your_letter.txt 先寄給自己試試啦! 《第三節 什麼是 Anonymous FTP》 FTP (file transfer protocol) 即所謂的檔案傳送，在你要將你的工作站 帳號中的檔案或程式傳回到你的電腦，則必需要有 FTP 的程式，反之，用相同 的程式可將你的資料傳到工作站。方法如下: ftp xxxx.xxxx.xxxx.xxxx login: (your user name) passwd: (your passwd) ftp> 出現 FTP 的程式的提示號….

<指令>
help 列出所有指令
ls 列出所有檔名 (ls=list)
ls -l 列出所有檔名外，另包括檔案大小、日期以及型式(權限).
cd (目錄名) 改變目錄到某目錄(目錄名) (cd=change directory)
pwd 列出所在目錄
binary 在傳送非文字檔之前，必需先執行
ascii 在傳送文字檔之前，必需先執行 (如 .txt .ps 等)
get (檔名) 將工作站所在的檔案傳送到你的電腦
put (檔名) 將你的電腦所在的檔案傳送到工作站
mget (檔名) (檔名) 將工作站所在的多個檔案傳送到你的電腦，可用 *
mput (檔名) (檔名) 將你的電腦所在的多個檔案傳送到工作站，可用 *
prompt 切換是否在傳送多個檔案時，一條一條問你要不要抓

而 Anonymous FTP 則是在一些工作站會存放一些電子資料或者一些軟體
(一些非商業性軟體，或者商業但試玩一段期限的軟體)，其進入的方法如下:

ftp xxxxx.xxxxx.xxxxx.xxxx < 一些 Anonymous FTP 工作站的位址 login: anonymous (or ftp) passwd: (your email-address) 指令一樣.... ------------------------------------------ Windows: ws_ftp.zip (需要 winsock) Macintosh: fetch212.hqx (需要 MacTCP) ------------------------------------------ 附錄 B 為台灣 FTP 資料庫的列表，注意其隨時間而有所改變! 其中 nctuccca.edu.tw 以及 imftp.mgt.ncu.edu.tw 是屬於一些國外著名 FTP 資料庫的 Mirror Server，即國外的許多檔案以及資料在這些站皆有作些 備份，並且會隨時間而跟著更新。所以，若你知道網路上有什麼很好的資料， 不要急得往外國連線，先用 Archie (見第四節) 尋找是否在國內已經，因為大 半的資料都可從國內得到。 在你取得軟體之後，你會需要一些解壓縮軟體，如 DOS 下軟體通常為 *.zip 那你必需先有 pkz204g.exe ，是屬一自解壓縮檔，可以得到一些解壓縮檔， 其中 pkunzip -d file_name.zip 可以將你抓來的 *.zip 解成許多檔案，所以 最好先增加個子目錄，先將你抓來的檔案先移到新增的子目錄下再解開。若是 *.gz 那必需找到 gzip.exe 用 gzip -d file_name.gz 來解；或者有的 FTP Server 有幫忙解 gz 的功能，只在 FTP 下原本執行 get file_name.gz 改成 get file_name 即可。 在 Macintosh 下則必需先要有 stuffitexpander351.hqx 來解， .hqx 需 Binhqx 或者 Fetch 本身有解 .hqx 的功能. .cpt .sit .sea .hqx 等 Stuffitexpander 可解. .gz 則必需 Maczip 或註冊後的 Stuffitexpander 可解. 註:在 Fetch 的 Customize Menu 下有 Post-Processing... menu， 只要一次 設定完之後，以後 Fetch 就會就結尾字母來自動幫你執行解壓縮功能。 ------------------------------------------ Windows: winzip.zip Windows 下的解壓縮『公用程式』 程式本身不會，而是需上述 DOS 的軟體，而 Winzip 只是指 引其軟體路徑，但是蠻方便的。 ------------------------------------------ 建議: 在解完程式後，其一定會附有程式使用的說明 (如 readme.txt， install.doc 等)，請按照安裝說明 (大部份不會很難)， 如果不行再到 BBS Board 了解或找人用， 而筆者希望這類安裝事情請不要來信問筆者，因為 BBS 上有許多這方面的討論，請多多利用。 《第四節 什麼是 Archie》 在你知道有很好的軟體可以用 (比如每章節後所列的一些軟體)，但你不知 如何去找，也不知在前一章所列的 FTP 資料庫中的那個目錄，所以你就要借重 Archie server 的功能，它可以幫你指出它們在那個 FTP 資料庫中。 筆者只介紹兩個在台灣的: telnet archie.ncu.edu.tw login:archie or twarchie telnet archie.twnic.net login:archie 前者 archie 的範圍在於世界的所有 FTP 資料庫，而 twarchie 則限定在台 灣；後者雖以 archie 進入，但仍以台灣的資料庫為主。所以，筆者建議你在 使 Archie 就以台灣的先找，如果找不到再以全世界範圍來找，節省你的時 間，也節省網路上的各位的時間。 <指令>

比如:找 ewan103.zip => 則只要打 prog ewan 就會將檔名含有 ewan 的所在
都列出來給你， 如 MATEWAN.0810.gz， ewan1c.zip， ewan102.zip 等。

《第五節 什麼是 Gopher》
Gopher 是一種使用者介面的程式，將 FTP 以及其他種的網路的相連作歸
納性的選單，讓你不必知道許多工作站的位址而達到連接的目的，也有公布消
息以及作網路上資料的索引等。台灣各大學皆有建立 Gopher 系統，主要提供
校園間消息的公布，比如說: 大學聯考榜單的公布、行事曆公布、生活資訊(如
統一發票公布、中國時報即時新聞)等，也是類似 BBS 布告欄的功能，不同的
是，其一切的消息是由管理者負責收集資料以及張貼，而不是公開讓大家貼
的。

如何進入: 用 Telnet 的方式，

《第六節 什麼是 World-Wide Web》
類似 Gopher 的功能，但是它更強，結合了多媒體的功能，使一個布告欄
可以藉由圖片、動畫以及聲音表現的更生動，並且可連接網路上的各種功能
(如上述的 FTP， Gopher 以及 Usenet，Wais 等) 。祥細情形請參見
ftp.tem.nctu.edu.tw /Chinese/FAQ/www/*.* 下有三件中文的說明書以及問題
集。

【第四章 討論群】
就筆者的定義，討論群主要包括新聞討論群 (Usenet 也是所謂的
newsgroups 或 news) 以及郵遞討論群 (Mailing list) 兩大類，而就筆者的
看法， BBS 中的布告欄也是討論群的一種，甚至現這些討論在現在有互相流通
的情形，只是範圍上以及使用方式上仍有許多的不同。

《第一節 什麼是 Usenet》
Usenet 不是一種網路， 而是藉由 Internet 來傳送對某個相關的問題作
個討論，而每一個相關討論的管理，收集自各地的 news server 中各地讀者發
表的文章，再將所有的文章再送到各地的 news server，這就是它主要的方
式。而使用者可以藉一些軟體來和當地的 news server 連接，而可以看這些討
論的文章，而藉同樣的軟體也可發出自己的意見，這種方式使你的意見可以散
布到『全世界』!

方法:
–在你申請的帳號下 (Unix 下) 執行 tin
–尋找和 news server 連線的程式，如 Windows 有 wt_wsk.zip，
而 Macintosh 下有 internews101.cpt.hqx。
–利用有些 Gopher 有和 news 連接的功能，但不能張貼文章!
–利用 WWW 連線程式， 用 Open URLs:
news:news_groups_name 的方式來連線，但一樣不能張貼!
必需設好 news 的位址， 如 Window 下的 Mosaic.ini 中
[Services]
NNTP_Server=”news.sinica.edu.tw”
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ 設定最近的 news_server位址

除了第二章所提的網路禮節外，在此對 Usenet 的禮節另外再列:
–如果你是新手，你應該到 news.announce.newusers 尋找一些
FAQs 來看看.
–在 misc.test 或 tw.bbs.test 的討論群下貼你試貼的文章.
–若是會議或是徵人文章，請註明期限.
–如果你要貼在許多不同的討論群下，請用跨貼 (Crossing-
posting) 的方式來貼(不同於到處貼)，可以使同一篇文章被
許多人看到.
–若跨貼在於同一關連性的二個以上討論群中應該避免，(如 bitnet.*
之間的討論是屬同為同一關連性的討論群)因為用電子郵件來參與的
使用者會因此而收到多份相同的文章。

Usenet有多種類型的討論群，如:
comp.* 有關電腦方面
sci.* 科學和知識方面
soc.* 社會問題方面
talk.* 包含較爭論性話題
news.* 關於Usenet本身的一些訊息
rec.* 娛樂欄

《第二節 什麼是 Mailing List-LISTSERV》
筆者將之稱為郵遞討論群，即用電子郵件的方法來達到討論的目的，你要
先向某個信件整理者 (lists administrator人工處理或 LISTSERV 程式處理)
註冊其中的某個討論群(mailing list)(每的信件整理者負責的可能不只一個討
論群)，之後，你每天就會收到來自討論群所收集的信件，你也可以投書到討論
群中，注意，是投到討論群群的位址，而不是你註冊的位址。之後，你不希望
再參加此討論群，則向原本註冊的位址辦理取消註冊。

郵遞討論群禮節:
–儘可能 Bitnet 使用者用 LISTSERV 的 Bitnet address，而 Interenet 使
用者用 Interenet address.
–保留一份你註冊的信以及註冊後收到的介紹.
–當你電子郵件位址改變之前，辦理取消註冊；或當你要出遠門不用的話 ，向
信件整理者辦理暫時停止送信.
–避免同一封信寄到多個討論群.
–如果你的文章很長的話，在標題處註明. 如 (Long!)

郵遞討論群主要分為兩種，其中一種是普遍使用 Eric Thomas 設計的
LISTSERV 程式來處理信件，可以自動處理信件以及送信，也可做一些資料的傳
送以及儲存(如依需要者而發送 FAQ 等)。下一章節即是非 LISTSERV 式的郵遞
討論群。

附錄 F 是原文所列的有關生物的 LISTSERV 討論群， 注意! 所列的是討
論群 (mailing list) 的位址， 若要註冊或設定要寄到

《第三節 什麼是 Mailing List(2)-nonLISTSERV》
附錄 G 所列的是非 LISTSERV 型式的郵遞討論群，記得在收到註冊後的簡
介信件，其指令和 LISTSERV 型式的指令並不相同，其註冊以及取消註冊的方
式也不同。

取得所有郵遞討論群列表的方式:
–在 news.answers 有分為六個部份的 FAQ (da Silva 1993)
包括所有郵遞討論群的列表以及簡短的介紹。
–在 FTP 下可以找到 /netinfo/interest-groups 或 interest
-groups.Z， 有很長的列表 (1.2MB)。但是因為討論一直在變
動，所以不是完整的。(也不可能完整)

《第四節 一些特殊節點的介紹》
有些新聞討論群在近年來建立和郵遞討論群的交流，以便讓使用者多一種
使用方式，這種作為兩者之間有一交換的介面，稱之節點 (Gateways)。本節最
後所列的就是一些兩者之間交流 (BBS 所謂的轉信) 的列表。

而台灣有些 BBS 之間有些相同性質公布欄會有互相轉信的情形，這是因為
現在 BBS 越來越多的一種策略，因為若不作轉信的話，各別的 BBS 只能各自
的討論而造成討論不夠集中，訊息也會各自打散。

有的 BBS 的公布欄則是和新聞討論群之間作轉信，如中山大學 BBS 的一
些公布欄即是個例子，而在新聞討論群的名稱為 tw.bbs.*。

《第五節 什麼是 FAQ》
FAQ (Frequently asked questions) 就字面上就可知是所謂的問題集，主
要是某一個討論或 BBS 公布欄對特定的問題做一個收集，讓各方面的初學或欲
知更多網路資源的人有個完整的依據。如本文以及原本皆是屬於 FAQ 型式的文
件。

FAQ 的取得:
— FTP server 中有 /pub/usenet/news.answers/ 的
— Usenet 中的 news.answers， sci.answers，
comp.answers，answers.newusers.
— Listserv 中用 info FAQ 指令取得.

附錄 H 為一些有用的 FAQs 列表。

【第五章 有關生物的資料】
本章主要介紹有關生物資料的尋找以及使用，就下幾節分別介紹。本章所
列的位址除非特別註明，否則以 Gopher 系統的位址為主。

現在有些人開始免費提供有關生物的訊息、資料庫以及服務，藉由 Gopher
選單式的整理來提供，包括:
–Don Gilbert 的 IUBio service (ftp.bio.indian.edu)
–Mike Cherry 的收集 (weeds.mgh.harvard.edu， USA)
–Rob Harper 的 “Finnish EMBnet BioBox” (gopher.csc.fi， Finland)

Yanoff(1993) 作了一個有關常用或不常用的 Internet servers 的列表，
包括一些線上字典、天氣圖、一般報導氣象服務站、有關統計軟體以及資料型
式的資料等等。

Stern (1993) 列出一些有關氣象資料取得的 FTP 資料庫。

Reinhard Doelz 的 Biocomputing Survival Guide (Doelz 1993) 包括基
本的 Unix、VMS 指令以及一些 GCG 軟體的介紹。

《第一節 參考文獻 (Bibliographies) 的尋找》
ftp.bio.indiana.edu 有 52，000 份自 1684 以來有關 Drosophila 的出
版文獻資料。

ridgised.er.usgs.gov 有美國能源局 (Department of Energy， DOE) 提
供氣候資料的參考文獻以及 NASA 的全球變遷研究者名單。

gopher.nd.edu 有北美海底生物協會 (North American Benthological
Society， NABS) 提供一些有關海底生物現在文獻的參考文獻。

lternet edu 為長期生態研究 (Long-Term Ecological Research， LTER)
計畫單位提供文獻資料庫以及編目。

gopher.genethon.fr 提供有關人類 Genome 研究以及 Sequence analysis
的文獻。

美國農業局提供研究結果資料庫 (Research Results Database， RRDB)，
包括其就農業研究中心 (Agricultural Research Servvice， ARS)以及經濟作
物研究中心 (Economic Research Service， ERS) 現在的研究作一簡單的總
結。查詢方式是電子郵件的方式，詳細情形，只要在信內文加 “send guide”
寄到 almanac@esusda.gov即可。

用 anonymous telnet 連到 epaibm.rtpnc.epa.gov 有美國環保局 (U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency， EPA) 提供線上資料庫。

bastet.sbs.ohio-state.edu 有收集有關 GIS 的參考文獻。

許多討論群 (包括 Usenet 和 Mailing List) 提供少數現期期刊目錄
(Tables of contents， TOCs) 的服務。Tom Schneider 提供一個將 TOCs 資
